Press Release Body: Thanks to an initiative by the Ugandan Carbon Bureau, and
sponsorship from Pocket Issue and the British Council, 1000 Ugandan politicians will
this week receive a climate change information pack, made up of a copy of Pocket
Issue, Global Warming and the UK government commissioned Stern Report. The goal is
to bring politicians up-to-speed on the issues and choices raised by climate change,
with the distribution of the packs being followed by a high level Cabinet and
Presidential briefing by Professor Ian Swingland, of London-based Sustainable
Forestry Management.

Dubbed "small briefs for a big world", Pocket Issue, Global Warming delivers the
reader a brief and pithy appraisal of the issues and background to climate change in
under 100-pages, giving each Ugandan parliamentarian an overview of the science, the
debate and possible future scenarios in as little as 20-minutes.

Speaking on behalf of Pocket Issue, Emma Hardcastle, said, "We are very pleased to
have been able to assist Ugandan politicians and the Uganda Carbon Bureau with the
challenge ahead of them. Providing accurate and accessible information to help
further understanding amongst the country's decision makers is an essential first
step in tackling climate change."

Climate change is firmly on the agenda in Uganda this month, following severe
flooding in north-eastern areas of the country, affecting an estimated 300,000
people. Ugandan politicians are keen to understand both the local and global
environmental implications of climate change, not least how they can use carbon
trading schemes to boost local farming incomes whilst reducing the impact of CO2.

A program of events is planned for the next week, including a public lecture by
Professor Swingland in conjunction with Nature Uganda, the hope being that by
building public awareness and increasing Uganda's involvement in carbon markets the
country can offer some coherent response to climate change.
